What is Get Rooted?

Get Rooted is an epic movement helping people grow deep in Christ. Get Rooted teaches seven Roots that help us grow deep spiritual roots—Roots that are meant for lifelong learning. We are focused on and committed to providing tools that help people have an awesome, dynamic relationship with God. Get Rooted is a movement of people committed to following Jesus and growing their roots deeply in him daily. We believe passion for God is contagious and spreads like a wildfire when we live deeply rooted in him. Get Rooted is about living a lifestyle that pleases God and creating a culture of his passion and grace. Get Rooted is about loving God and loving people.

What is the purpose?

We want to help individuals overcome life challenges of sin and failure and fix their eyes on Jesus. Get Rooted is a tool for producing potent, grounded, solid Christians who are eager to be rooted in Christ and who will withstand the storms of life and overcome the battles of sin by pursuing a wise, holy, righteousness lifestyle.

Jesus Christ called us to make disciples (Matthew 28:19), and that is the driving force behind Get Rooted. We aim to KNOW God intimately, GROW in God daily, and GO reproduce that passion in others’ lives for the glory of God. Our purpose in life is defined by God’s love for us and taking that love to others!

What is a disciple?

A disciple is an active adherent of a movement or philosophy—in other words, someone who supports a particular person and their ideas. Discipleship is the method we see in Scripture, but the gospel of Jesus Christ is the message.

Who will benefit from Get Rooted?

We’ve created this for those who desire to stand firm in their faith and to become all God created them to be. Get Rooted is for new Christians just beginning the journey with Jesus and for seasoned Christians who are further down the road. Get Rooted is for Christians who desire to be potent, growing, and passionate for God!

Why the name “Get Rooted?”

We find our inspiration in this parable found in Matthew 13:

…And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear (Matthew 13:3-9 ESV).

Which “plant” do you want to be: one that dies quickly or one that grows because it’s planted and deeply rooted in fertile soil? We will all face storms in life and experience some high winds. The harsher the winds, the stronger the tree must be to survive. In life the pressures we face require strong roots in Christ in order to survive spiritually. Roots of trees actually grow deeper from storms. With Get Rooted you grow deeper in God when you face storms and you learn ways to become stronger in Christ. If you want to be a thriving, growing Christian, GET ROOTED!

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers (Psalm 1:3 ESV).

Why do I need help in growing?

We don’t look at it as “help;” we look at it as a shared experience with other Christians who are growing together. We all need structure, support, and a source to grow in; our roots affect each other just like roots are intertwined among the trees in a forest. Get Rooted will lead you in having healthy roots and growing firmly in the most powerful source in the universe, Jesus Christ.

When the Bible talks about following Jesus, it refers to us as new people who are “born again.” It describes us as babies, new creations who start with spiritual milk and eventually grow to more weighty spiritual foods.

Being a Christian is not boring. In fact, being rooted in Jesus is the most exciting thing in the world. It’s likely you’ve already made the decision to begin following Jesus. If not, we’ll talk more about that in the coming pages. It’s the best decision you can ever make!

What is the ultimate goal with Get Rooted?

It’s our desire that you eventually grow so deep in God that you help other people grow, too, by pouring out these principles into their lives. And when you choose to begin growing deep today, it gives you the opportunity to remain deep with God for the rest of your life.

Definition of rooted: having taken root; firmly implanted; fixed in the heart

How will I put these ideas into practice?

This book focuses on seven main Roots, and at the end of each Root we provide Growth Steps that will keep you engaged and excited about that week’s theme. These are practical steps that will help you grow deeper roots and continue this journey of following Jesus.
